Mouth Watering Best Food To Eat When You Are In Bentong Town

Hi I'm Stephen and I'm a local Bentong Boy. I have been living in Bentong for most of my life except when I went out to study. Here are some places that I recommend for you to eat while you are in Bentong.

Bentong is a tourist town and during weekends, there are lots of people who will take a day trip to experience Bentong food and Bentong durians. It takes about 1 hour to travel from KL to Bentong.

Our durian farm eating experience starts at 11 am as we need some time to collect fresh durians for you. Meanwhile here is an itinerary which you can follow to make the most of your day trip in Bentong.

I recommend that you start your journey 7 a.m. or 7.30 am in the morning. So by the time that you reach Bentong it will be around 8.30 a.m. Do remember that Saturdays can be very pack because there are lots of tourist in Bentong.

1. Breakfast at Thong Kee/Hooi Ji Wan Tan Mee/Bentong's Kopitiam / 莫大妈 Tauhu Auntie Mok

Some of you might have heard of Thong Kee Kopitiam. They have branches in Sea Park, Pandan Indah, Kepong, Glenmarie, Puchong, Sri Petaling and Connaught. But the original shop is found in Bentong.

This is where it all started and you might want to check out Thong Kee Kopitiam Bentong.

Bentong is also famous for its Wan Tan Mee. Hooi Ji Wan Tan Mee which is located near the Bentong Pasar is a place where tourist often go to eat Bentong Wan Tan Mee. Do take note there can be many people there so go early to find a place.

Another good place to eat Breakfast is Bentong's Kopitiam. There you can eat Bittergourd Noodles and lots of Yong Tau Foo.

If you are walking near the Bentong Pasar, there are actually lots of shops to eat. Don't be afraid to try them.

After breakfast you can also buy Tau Foo Fa as dessert from 莫大妈 Tauhu Auntie Mok.

2. Buy Bentong Ginger, Macau Eggs At Bentong Town Pasar

One of the things that Bentong is famous for is Bentong Ginger. Bentong Ginger are planted in the hills of Bukit Tinggi but they are still called Bentong Ginger because Bukit Tinggi is located in Bentong District.

Bentong Ginger is very good for cooking. It is also very good for ladies who have just given birth. You can buy Bentong Ginger at the Bentong Pasar or the shops opposite Bentong Pasar.

Macau eggs are also very famous. You can get it around Bentong Pasar.

3. Eat Durians At BloopyDurians

By the time you finish breakfast and a little shopping in Bentong town, it will be a good time to visit us at BloopyDurians. I provide eat durians at a real durian farm experience. My farm is located at Taman Desa Damai, Bentong.

It is a 10 min drive from Bentong Town. You will need to use a 4WD to go into the farm as the roads to the durian farm are authentic durian farm roads. The journey inside is 5 min and this will give you an unforgettable experience of what a durian farmer goes through every day.

You can park your cars outside the Dewan Desa Damai, Bentong. There are a lot of parking there. From there, my team will pick you up in a 4WD. Each 4WD can ferry 10 people.

The durian farm eating experience is about 1 hour. But if you are the adventurous type and want to walk around the farm, you should set aside another 30 min to 1 hour for the experience.

There we will guide you around the farm and explain how we take care and grow durian trees. You will get to learn about "a day in the life" of a durian farmer.

4. Lunch At Restoran Golden Court / Kedai Kopi Poh Heng / Lemang Toki

By the time you finish the eat at durian farm tour, it will be around 12.30 to 1.00 p.m. The farm experience at the farm may leave you very hot. So you might want to go to an air con restaurant.

I recommend that you go to Restoran Golden Court. The food there is quite tasty but do expect a higher price like a restaurant in KL. You can ask me for a recommendation of what to eat there.

The restaurant is big and can accommodate hundreds of people. So if you have a big group this will be a good choice.

Alternatively if you do not mind the heat, you can take a 15 min journey from my farm to a small place called Bilut. There you will find Kedai Kopi Poh Heng. This restaurant serves one of the best Ting Kai that I have ever tasted.

The Ting Kai at Poh Hing is one of the best I have ever tasted.

Their hand made hokkien mee is extremely good as well. Their mushroom dish is also very mouth watering. Do note that this shop is not very big and can sit about 50 people. Keep this in mind since it is famous, there will be many other people as well.

You might also have heard about Lemang Toki. It is a malay restaurant that serves one of the best lemang and rendang in Malaysia. If you would like to try it, you can drop by as it is only 5 min drive from my farm.

Because it is very famous, you should expect a queue. There are lots of tourists that visit this place. If you do not want to eat there, you can tapau the lemang back home.

5. Kow Po Ice Cream Before Going Back To KL

The last thing that I recommend you do before leaving Bentong is to visit the famous Kow Po Ice Cream shop. It is located opposite the Bentong bus station.

This ice cream shop has attracted tons of celebrity and VIP. It has more than 30 years of history and the original uncle who started the shop is still running it.

You won't regret going to Kow Po for ice cream. Try the peanut butter flavour. It is the best.

Once you finish eating ice cream at Kow Po, it will probably be around 3.30 p.m. This is a good time to leave Bentong and go back down kl. Hope this guide helps you and if you find it helpful please share it with your friends.
