So you have a group of Chinese business people from China that you want to impress and make happy?

Our Chinese friends are big fans of Musang King and Malaysian durians. It is so valuable to them that it can cost upwards of RM 500 for one fruit in China. That is the price they pay to eat a Musang King which is not so fresh and taken over for many days.

The Musang King looks very golden to them and it is a symbol of wealth and prosperity. Somehow they have also develop a taste for this golden pulp.

And they LOVE it so much!!!

Before I continue let me tell you a story of when I was studying in the UK. More than 20 years ago when I was in the UK, studying law in Bristol some people took me to a place where students cook a homecook meal.

I think it's called BISC, which stands for Bristol International Student Council or something like that. They cook homecook meals for international students and we only need to give 1 Pound as a token of appreciation. I think they did it to make us newcomers feel at home and experience the hospitality.

After so many years I have forgotten many things while I was in the UK. But having a homecook meal by BISC is something that I remember to this very day.

So food plus good experience is what people remember.

Why do I tell you this story?

The reason is FOOD + EXPERIENCE makes you stand out and be remembered by your Chinese business friends.

They may enjoy many things while traveling in Malaysia but if you give them Musang King at a very different setting such as in a durian farm, this will be one of the things that they will remember.

And guess what...

They will also remember who brought them there.

1. Bring Them To A Malaysian Durian Farm Where Musang King Is Famously Grown

For those who may not know, Pahang is one of the most famous places where Musang King is grown.

Sure there are many Musang King durian farms in Johor and Ipoh but Pahang is still one of the most famous places known for the cultivation of durian.

The area around Bentong and Raub with its climate and soil is very suitable for the growing of Musang King. Somehow as many people say, the taste of Musang King from this area beats out many Musang King grown in other places.

The climate and soil makes it hard to replicate the awesome mouth watering taste of Musang King that is grown in Bentong and Raub.

You may or may not agree with me as this is a personal taste.

But if you have an opportunity do come and bring your Chinese business friends to eat in a local durian farm in Bentong or Raub.

At this point allow me to do some sales and selling as I do have a durian farm in Bentong that is open for farm eating.

I do get visitors from Singapore, Australia and China who just love to experience the heat and feel of a durian farm LOL.

If you are interested to bring your Chinese friends here do contact me. My name is Stephen Loke and my number is 017-9250613. WhatsApp me or call me. Whatsapp is better.

2. Bentong Is An Ideal Place To Bring Your Chinese Friends (1 hour from KL and near Genting Highlands)

One of the reasons why so many people come to my farm in Bentong is because of its location.

I know when it comes to real estate the secret is LOCATION LOCATION and LOCATION.

From the many conversations with my visitors I realize that they actually love coming to Bentong. One of the reasons is because it is very near to KL.

People just want to get away from the city.

But at the same time they do not want to travel so far. Some durian farms in Raub are 2 hours away this is a bit time consuming going in and out for a day trip.

My visitors like to have a nice drive through the KARAK highway. Coming in the morning while the mist is there and looking at the mountains as the sun starts to shine is an unforgettable experience as well for your Chinese friends.

What I found out is that many of my visitors also book a room in Genting. They like to travel and holiday in Genting. Bentong which is only 30 min from Genting is also great destination for them as they want to get out of their hotel during the few days stay for a short trip.

Others do book a vacation retreat in one of the many resorts around Bentong.

I'm surprised that large groups of 30-60 people come and do a retreat in the many accomodations in Bentong. Somehow when they are here and they know its durian season they will find me and ask if they can come visit my durian farm.

Whether you and your Chinese friends are staying in Genting or Bentong, it is a great experience to visit a local durian farm.

Even if you are not staying, it is only a short 1 hour trip to Bentong and my farm is just 10 minutes from Bentong town.

3. Your Chinese Friends Want To Experience What A Real Durian Farm Feels Like (They also enjoy the ride in)

As a Malaysian, you may be so scared of the heat.

You may also feel it is ridiculous and bumpy to go into a durian farm. After all our durian farm roads in Malaysia are famous for the pot holes and bumps and are only accessible by 4 wheel drive.

Not to mention the mud...

But I can tell you from experience that the happiest customers that I have are actually Chinese customers.

What is normal and problematic to you as a Malaysian is actually an adventure to them.

After all they are living in China and some of the very wealthy ones live in the North of China. They have 9 months of cold the entire year.

And nowadays their cities are more modern and clean than ours.

What is 3 hours of heat and sweat in a durian farm to them?

4. My Unique Experience With A Very Wealthy Chinese Couple

I remember a Chinese customer that came in. Actually they were 2 couples. They told me that they read about my farm from Xiao Hong Shu.

They told me that they wanted to try Musang King.

At that time it was end season and very hard to get Musang King. I told them I only got like D24 and Kampung.

I thought that they would not want to come in. But to my surprise they wanted to visit my farm.

Well I thought if you don't mind no Musang King then its ok. I will bring you in.

On that day when they arrived, I was actually quite surprised. They came in a very nice car with a driver waiting for them outside during the whole trip.

The gentlemen was very polite and nice and he had a very young and pretty wife. The other couple is the wife's cousin and wife.

From their appearance I immediately knew that they were quite wealthy.

So, I brought them in.

The funny thing was, the 2 men didn't want to get inside the air con car. They hop onto the back of my four wheel drive!

I ask them are you sure?

They said they wanted to try the experience riding into the farm at the back of my Toyota Hilux. So for about 10 min they sat at the back, took pictures and by the looks of it they were really enjoying themselves.

I mean this would be crazy for Malaysians but it seems for our Chinese friends this was an amazing experience.

When we arrived, we serve them durians and they ate and ate.

And of course we talked with them and then only we realized that the man actually has a pharmaceutical company with 100 acres of factory land in China.

They stayed for about 3 hours before leaving!

When they left the wife told us she has not eaten so much durian in a day for her whole life!

So what on earth brought these wealthy Chinese business people here?

You would think that they like to go air con places and do shopping. But my friends...

Chinese business people actually like the durian farm experience more than you think!

And if you can give them the experience they will probably remember you for the rest of their lives.

5. What To Offer Them During The Durian Farm Experience

As a Malaysian, you might be cracking your head wondering what to do in a place such as durian farm.

Don't worry we got you covered.

First of all your Chinese business friends will enjoy the farm experience purely because they have not tried it before.

When they go back to China they will tell their friends that they have visited a durian farm. That is an impressive experience for them to talk about.

We provide them a 4 wheel drive ride in.

But let's talk about what you want to serve them during the farm experience...

  • From my experience with Chinese visitors what they like is to eat until full full.

  • Next offer them a variety of different durians (if have)

  • Make sure there is a lot left (to impress them)

As you may know, it is politeness and a practice to offer your Chinese business friends with more food than they need.

It will be good business for us of course but if you think about it, it is good impression that counts.

A good amount would be to offer each person 6kg - 8kg of fruits. That is equivalent to about 3-4 fruits per person. Most likely your Chinese business friends can't finish but anything they can't finish you can tapau them back.

6. Some Other Places In Bentong For Your Chinese Business Friends To Visit

Bentong is a tourist town.

Near this place there are other places for you to bring your Chinese business friends to visit.

They are

  • The Bentong Farm

  • Chamang Watefalls

But for other nice food you can bring them to:

  • Bentong Pasar (Buy Bentong Ginger and Macau Eggs)

  • Lunch At Restoran Golden Court / Kedai Kopi Poh Heng / Lemang Toki

7. How To Get To Bentong

If you are planning to come to Bentong and bring your Chinese business friends, it is best for you to take them in your own car.

That way you can cater to any sudden short change of plans.

Another way is to charter a car for them. Try not to chart small cars. But charter luxury MPV 7 seaters like Lexus LM, Toyota Vellfire or Toyota Alphard.

You want to give them the best comfort as possible.

As Bentong is only 1 hour from KL this will be a good way of transport for your VIP friends.

Conclusion

I do hope that this article helps you in planning for a memorable durian farm eating experience for your VIP business friends.

Once again I do offer a Durian Farm Eating Tour in a local Bentong durian farm. Don't hesitate to contact me.
